Anthropic shows how to collaborate on Claude artifacts

A new official Claude video and tutorial cover sharing artifacts, editing together and commenting with @Claude. Here is what each plan can do.

Anthropic has published an official video on how to work together on Claude artifacts, the documents, slide decks, designs and dashboards that Claude builds beside your conversation.

The video, titled “Collaborate on artifacts in Claude,” appeared on Claude’s official YouTube channel and was about 13 hours old when we checked on November 5:

We could not open the video’s description, so what follows comes from Anthropic’s written pages on the same topic: a Claude Academy tutorial, “Collaborate with your team in Claude artifacts,” and the Help Center articles on sharing and on artifacts.

What an artifact is

Anthropic defines an artifact as anything Claude makes that you would put in front of someone: a design, a deck, a document, a dashboard or a small interactive tool. It opens in a panel beside the chat, and each artifact has its own page and link, so you can share it and work on it with your team directly in Claude.

Not everything Claude makes next to the chat is an artifact. Claude can also build a file to download or export to PowerPoint or Google Docs. An artifact is the version with a page you can share and edit with teammates inside Claude.

How collaboration works

Sharing starts private. Artifacts are visible only to you until you share them. Click Share at the top right of the artifact and choose what each person can do. People you invite need a Claude account.

Three access levels. Depending on the artifact type, you can give someone:

  • Can view: open the artifact and read its comments.
  • Commenter: everything above, plus add comments and download any files the artifact offers.
  • Can edit: everything above, plus make changes.

Edit at the same time. Anthropic says that in a doc, deck or design, people with edit access can work at the same time and see each other’s changes as they happen. Everyone opens the same page and sees the artifact and its comments, not your conversation with Claude. Claude keeps working on the artifact whenever you or a teammate with edit access asks for a change.

Comments, and asking Claude from them. To change one part, click Comment, click the spot, write the request and leave Send to Claude checked. In a doc, select text, add a comment and mention @Claude. For a change to the whole thing, ask in the conversation. Small fixes, such as a word or a number, you can make by clicking in and typing.

Invitations by email (beta). Pro, Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise plans can invite specific people by email. The invitee signs in to Claude with that address. Anthropic lists some limits for people invited from outside your organization: they cannot invite others or change sharing settings, parts of the artifact that use Claude or your connectors do not work for them, and they cannot mention people or ask Claude in a comment.

Exports. When work has to leave Claude, you can export a file such as PowerPoint or Google Slides for a deck, Word or Google Docs for a doc, or MP4 for an animation.

What each plan includes

  • Every plan, including Free: you can ask for an artifact and make Claude Docs, Slides and Design.
  • Paid plans (Pro, Max, Ultra, Team, Enterprise): Claude Dashboards, which are in beta, plus saving entries in an artifact and connecting it to your tools.
  • Team and Enterprise: Claude Motion, also in beta. An owner decides which kinds the organization can use and whether people can share outside it.

On Team and Enterprise plans, artifacts stay inside the organization by default. “Anyone with the link” sharing is available only when an Owner has turned on External sharing or allowed that artifact individually. Anthropic also notes you cannot change sharing settings in the iOS or Android apps. Use Claude on the web or the desktop app.

Two other points from the Help Center: artifacts require the “Cloud code execution and file creation” setting to be on, and the Docs, Slides and Design templates turn on by default for Enterprise plans on October 15, 2026.

Older artifacts

Anthropic says artifacts made in a chat before September 16, 2026 are “legacy artifacts.” They keep working and can still be published and shared, but you can no longer make new ones. They show “Publish” or “Share & copy link” instead of “Share.” Live artifacts made in Claude Cowork before August 19, 2026 have their own sharing rules.

What this means for working professionals

  • Teams that live in decks and docs: you can draft in Claude and have colleagues edit the same page, rather than emailing exports back and forth.
  • Managers and reviewers: comment-level access lets someone review without being able to change anything.
  • Admins and compliance: check the Team or Enterprise settings for external sharing and email invitations before people start sharing client material.
  • Anyone sharing with “Anyone with the link”: treat the link like the document. Prefer inviting named people when the content is sensitive.

We did not test collaboration ourselves. Everything above is from Anthropic’s documentation, and details can change by plan and rollout. For more on the artifact types, see our coverage of Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion.
