Anthropic released Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta on October 8, 2026, adding two new artifact templates that push Claude beyond static docs, decks, and designs.
The short version: Claude can now turn connected company data into a dashboard that stays current, and it can turn reports, charts, and walkthroughs into editable animated explainers. At the same time, Claude Docs, Slides, and Design are out of beta and available on every Claude plan, including Free.

Anthropic's launch video shows Claude building a dashboard from bike-share ride data, then turning the dashboard story into a Motion animation.
What Claude Dashboards does
Claude Dashboards is built for quick, exploratory questions over business data. A user can connect a warehouse such as Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, or Snowflake, or use another connected app such as Salesforce, then ask Claude for a dashboard in plain English.
Claude writes a SQL query for each chart, runs it against the source, and shows the query behind the number. Each chart also shows when its data was last refreshed, which is the right design choice for a feature that could otherwise make AI-generated metrics look more authoritative than they are.
Anthropic is framing Dashboards as a first stop, not a full replacement for BI. If the question needs deeper analysis, users can send the dashboard to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, or Sigma, with Looker, monday.com, and Tableau listed as coming soon.
What Claude Motion does
Claude Motion turns content into a short animation: a board-deck chart, an all-hands explainer, a product walkthrough, or a 30-second summary of a report. Users can ask Claude to revise it, edit it in the artifact editor, and download the finished result as an MP4 file.
The important detail is how it is made. Anthropic says Motion does not use a video generation model. Claude writes code that animates the user's text, charts, shapes, and images. That means a user should be able to change a word, number, or timing cue without regenerating the whole clip from scratch.
It also means Motion is not trying to create photorealistic generated footage or AI actors. It is closer to an editable motion-graphics artifact than a Sora-style video generator. Anthropic says users can take the result further in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI, or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon.
Availability and admin controls
Claude Dashboards is in beta on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Claude Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans.
For Enterprise organizations, both Dashboards and Motion are off by default until an owner enables them under Organization settings > Artifacts. On Team plans, Motion is on by default. The broader Artifacts system also requires cloud code execution and file creation to be enabled.
The Help Center adds two enterprise caveats that matter for admins. First, artifacts count toward the user's normal plan usage limits, not a separate allowance. Second, HIPAA-ready organizations can enable Docs, Slides, Design, Dashboards, and Motion after accepting terms, but those artifacts are not covered under the organization's BAA, so protected health information should stay out.
Docs, Slides, and Design leave beta
This launch is also a graduation moment for Claude's existing artifact templates. Anthropic says people have created more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs in Claude, and Docs, Slides, and Design are now out of beta.
The enterprise upgrades around those templates are practical: customer-managed encryption keys support for artifacts, admin control over which templates an organization can use, team editing across docs, decks, designs, and dashboards, external sharing where admins allow it, cleaner PowerPoint and PDF exports, Google Slides export, and mobile editing.
Claude Design is also being folded into Claude proper. The standalone Claude Design site at claude.ai/design will stay available until December 14, 2026, but Anthropic is encouraging teams to migrate design systems into the Artifacts tab.
Why it matters
Anthropic is turning Claude artifacts into a more complete work surface. A dashboard, a deck, a doc, a design, and a motion explainer can now live inside the same assistant workflow, with Claude generating the first version and the user or team editing the result.
For teams, the upside is speed: fewer tickets for simple dashboards, fewer static slides when an idea needs motion, and less tool-switching for first drafts. The risk is also obvious: AI-generated dashboards still need someone to inspect the query, confirm definitions, and check whether the data source answers the question the user actually meant.
That is why the visible-query design matters. If Claude Dashboards becomes useful, it will be because it makes fast data work inspectable, not because it hides analytics behind a magic prompt box.
